Concessions Sat...

Please wear your bball shirts, or a regular DNH Wolverines shirt but don't wear anything with another sport on it, thanks. Wear what you'd like for bottoms just don't look too sloppy. :)
Also, it will probably go til 4 or 4:30 with cleaning, so if you anyone would like to, coaches will prolly go to Prairie Lakes Sat. night church which is at 5:30 and they serve pizza before. I know some of you have vball on Sun. so maybe this would be a nice way to get to church still...just if you want to.

If you could bring along what you know of so far for schedules for the next while, we can kind of plan any agility, lifting, or bball stuff tentatively Sat. when you come to work.

THANKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Summer Stuffff

There are different things I would like to do during the off season for the girls.
1. July bball tourney in Chi town for the varsity.
2. Wolverines Camp, about the 3rd week in June, unless I hear of a better time.
3. Summer league, which is just a night a week (always more if desired) to get the girls together to play and maybe do a couple skills and drills.  About an hour to an hour and a half for junior high and then the same for high school.
4. For the varsity age, we will do some individual or small group type workouts, and I will set them up with the girls at the bball meeting I will have probably towards the end of May.  Of course if any of the younger girls want to have some individual or small group time I will be MORE THAN happy to do that.
5. Some team camps, and even a couple individuals skills camps.
6. An olympics and picnic day, this is where we will have the girls meet, maybe in NH at the outdoor bball court and we will have an afternoon of different contests.  Bball, ultimate frisbee, races, tennis tourney, etc.! (oh and of course eating)
7. Also, I will talk with the other coaches but I would like to do some agility and lifting workout revamping!  I know it is a matter of opinion, but body mechanics and strength training are a necessity to successful teams anymore.

Season Wrap Up

The 08-09 bball season came to a close tonight.  It wasn't the way you want to wrap up a season...and I tell myself ultimately only one team gets to end on a win.  After the game I didn't get a chance to say thank you to the parents and friends of the girls.  Thanks for entrusting your daughters with us, for standing by them, and for supporting us. This season was one that was filled with lots of obstacles, some unknowns, and its more than fair share of frustrations.  However, set all of that aside and hear this... (and I think I am speaking on behalf of the other coaches)I felt very blessed to get the chance to coach at DNH.  I LOVED getting to know the girls, and teach them, and listen to them, , be so frustrated with them, joke with them, yell at them, and then want to give them a hug in the next breath.  They came so far, improved so much, did great staying as a team.
Girls(seniors especially), my hope is that you remember the journey of this season.  Remember what it is like to be part of a team, and all the qualities it takes to be a teammate, those things will stay with you forever and continue to mold you in to a strong and successful woman.   Your sports have built a lot of character in you, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for each one of you!!  I just can't find the right words to say how much I appreciated each of you girls on this 08-09 team, so I guess these words will have to do.
Please stay in touch!  Those of you showing pigs, and horses, rabbits, and probably some other animals, let us know when you are! Also, let us know when we get to see you in your prom dresses!
You have my number and email if you ever need anything.

HOOPALOOZA

Sunday April 5th 1-7pm, is Hoopalooza the 3 on 3 Tournament open to 6th-12 graders and also there is an open adult division.  BBall girls I am expecting that you can be there to help at some point in the day, and I am encouraging you to participate also.

I am asking that you all spread the word on this and those that want to participate can email me at amyv100@yahoo.com and I will email them an entry form.  Please spread the word so we can get the entry forms in.

I realize that there is so much going on, so hopefully this is enough in advance that you could arrange schedules so that you can be there.  We will also have concessions and need to have volunteers for that.

District Game #1 this Sat.!

Regular season is done but we are on two post season.  The girls have really been stepping it up the last few games and I think are ready to reach their goal of winning the first district game in a very long.

Girls, remember this week we need to have a great week of practice, refine our game plan, and really continue to grow our confidence.  It take a lot of focus and hard work.  I do believe the saying anything worth having doesn't come easy, it makes the good stuff that much better.

Think big, act big, and big things will happen!!

JV is all done already!!

It seemed like a whirlwind! This season has been one of craziness, learning a new system, me in us us in our first year, the ridiculous weather and lots of new faces. The freshman are all done with bball FOR NOW! :) ... and I can hardly believe it. Girls, I just want to say, and I speak on behalf of the other coaches, you were amazing. Basketball wise you came leap years ahead, and you did it with great senses of humor and this intensity that was amazing. I didn't always see it in practice, because you are so laid back, and then all of the sudden you had it in the game. You wanted to win, and you did A LOT. Be very proud. Those tears I saw the past couple games, show me that you care! Thank you for all your hardwork and time and sweat. We are looking forward to a great and super fun future. Also, thanks for keeping all the stats you did, I can't tell you how much that helps us out! I will see you at our next games and the concession stands, but make sure you keep in close touch.

Chicago Trip

July 16-19th is when the Chicago tournament is. Those dates are pretty positive because it is usually the third weekend in July, but official dates aren't out yet. We may not stay the whole time, that will be determined when the info. comes out from the tournament. So please put that on your calendar.

Also, I want to have a camp this summer. It will be a half a day commitment for four days probably. I would love you (girls) to email me your top three time periods that would work the best for your CRAZZZYYYYYY schedules.

Third, in the same email please let me know what night(s)/day(s) you would prefer to have Summer League bball? This would be in Dike probably.
