Last 3 weeks of bball already.
It's hard to believe we are down to the last three weeks of bball already! It has been quite a journey. I'm not sure who checks this blog out, but if you do I hope that you hear me when I say that if you stick by this bball program...if you expect something more out of this program...if you believe it can change then we will be in a good place. The girls don't need benign support...they want you to believe in them to really engage in the fact this program can change. It makes it a harder battle than necessary when the only people that really believe it can change are the ones working their butt off every day. If it truely is about progress and taking a step forward and not just about the wins, there would be energy from the fans in that gym in the beginning of them game. There would be posters in the hall from people finding support for this team. People would wear their shirts with pride. A generic "you'll get em next time, keep it up" isn't enough right now. I am asking as the coach of this program to dig down deep and expect more from these girls, they want you to. They need to really feel you support them. They have a tough road ahead of them, but they accept that challenge everyday. It shows in practice (almost always) it will show up during the game. Thanks!
As for the practice calendar the girls got, we want to give some days off, but with mother nature giving us in opportune days off it's hard to take scheduled ones. Please be flexible with changes in the schedule. Also. it was mentioned that we would like the last two weekends before Feb. 13th to be free so they can relax. I realize that most girls aren't going to do that. But I am asking, pleading really that the weekend before the 13th be left free. They need a mental and physical break, and I want to not always sacrifice basketball practice intensity and efforts to save them because I know they are going to turn around on Sunday and play in an all day tournament. It comes with the territory but we can give just a little I think on the other end.

JV STUDS
After making a new commitment to stepping it up and having two tougher days of practice JV pulled off a great win against NU. You all looked strong, and determined and the super element of having fun. It was so good to see, and I'm so glad Varsity got to watch that. Great job and thanks for all of your hard work!!!!

Jan. 30th Concessions
It was requested that all sports teams help at the concessions for the lights on Jan. 30th-31st so the girls bball will be going 7am-10am on the 30th. I need to leave for Wisc. RIGHT after that. Let me know if you have questions. THANKS. Also please pass the word on.

Reminder: 2nd Annual Chicago Trip!!
We are just beginning the second half of the season. But! I do want to remind everyone to leave about the third long weekend in July open for the Chicago Bball Tourney. That is really the only one we can get everyone to. We will try and do other tournaments if we can, and just bring who is available. Mark it in your calendars please.
Thanks for all of the support everyone is showing. The girls really are constantly improving and doing great things. Practices go very well (mostly) :) and they work hard. The Pack is in the hunt for sure!! Also, thank you for trusting the coaches with your girls. It's a lot of time parents give up with them. We enjoy it so much and win lose or draw, I think everyone has a great time! There is no shortage of laughs (usually) :) !!
Keep cheering us on, with your support and the girls hardwork we WILL turn this program into a winning one. It already is successful.

Jan. 5th Game time change
Jan. 5th's game vs. Hudson @ home is moved up to 5pm I believe because of the Iowa game!
2nd Half of Season... Underway.
Oh my how time flys! It was just yesterday I was sitting being anxious for bball to start. Now we are looking at the 2nd half of the season.
Having a full week of solid, uninterrupted practice served the girls well. They worked so hard and we could see vast improvement, daily, very fun to see. We added a new offense and defensive scheme and they adopted it pretty easily. Sat. there was a 3 team scrimmage in Clarksville to implement what they learned. The scrimmage was JV and Varsity so everyone got a lot of playing time. Coaches were so pleased with how well they carried over from practice to a game-like situation! Very solid. The girls DEFINITELY took a big leap forward this Christmas break and we are very very anxious to start games up again!
Jan. 2nd we had our Christmas party that was fun as usual. Reindeer game (which may have to be annual) a lil' Christmas Carol Race Contest, presents, 80s hair and attire and lots of laughs made for a fun night. Huck may have even found a new clothing niche with his sweet eighties sweater and Bison? cloak...:/ Huck's daughter, Kenzie, was indeed the best reindeer ever! And don't worry there are now four team hair sprays decorated to the hilt for all to share. There will be no ugly hair in our games.
