Just because...
We have a little break now before we get to basketball season. And I just want to say that these girls are amazing. I mean truly, they are. Every single girl has such an individually wonderful personality and they have such an amazing loyalty and compassion for each other. Family and community of these girls, thanks for raising them up to be fantastic! It's a blessing to work with them, it's fun to watch them grow, and we are so excited to watch all the great things they are going to continue to do on and off the court.
CHICAGO TRIP.. SUCH FUN TIMES!

Welcome Coach Huck!
Coach Iehl and I would like to welcome Joe Huck on board in the ninth grade girls basketball coaching position. As you well know, Coach Huck has been in the system for a few years! We are looking forward to him balancing out all the girl hormones...big job Joe! :) More than that we are looking forward to his passion for the sport and his help in continuing to help grow the program. Thanks for coming aboard Joe! (I guess you were already aboard just a different part of the ship)
Lifting during the year.
It is my opinion, that lifting should be maintained through the year and seasons of sports. One main reason I am really emphatic about it is because many of the girls are involved in many sports. Their bodies are taking on a lot and lifting helps to keep connective tissue strong and reduces the rate of injury dramatically. Also, their body stays healthier longer through the season, this allows a very fruitful end of the season.
We have had the girls do BFS through the summer which worked out well. We modified somethings part way through and added some advanced plyo stuff. All the girl athletes were on the same program.
One thing to keep in mind, is some individuals require a different attention because of injury or dysfunction. I will try and keep an eye out for that, but I am counting on the athlete to come and talk to me. I will be more than happy to help them the best I can.
Lastly, as far as lifting during the seasons it is a maintenance thing, and I can be more specific depending on the sport and the athlete's needs, so again please contact me.
Thank you!
Summer has come and is almost gone!
Summer has completely flown by in a whirlwind of vacations, tournaments, fairs, and fun in the sun...and some bball too! I want to thank everyone who worked out this summer. Those who lifted we can already see an immense difference in your strength, and nice enhancement to your athletic ability! It will carry over nicely to all the sports.
This was the first full summer of basketball workouts and we are also extremely pleased with that. As coaches we felt that the girls started off BEYOND where they left of at the end of the sesaon...that was a great surprise.
Thank you to all who had a hand in fundraising and getting the ball rolling for the Chicago trip. It went very well and I think it was a very good experience for the girls. I know I personally really and truly had a blast, so did Kristin.
Parents, I've said this before, but you have raised some FLAT OUT AMAZING girls! Every single one, and that is the truth, are wonderful. We, as coaches, and just people, have been spoiled rotten this summer and we aren't even to season. Needless to say we are so looking forward to the 2009-2010 basketball season.
Girls, good luck with your fall sports, go hard, be injury free, and enjoy and we will see you come November. We'll be watching you from the stands until then!
