Words to Chew on ...(I mean I almost choked on them)

This blog is something I do on my own, for fun to keep everyone up to date and allowing fun things to be shared. So that means I get to say what I want :)...so I want to share this that really struck me good this weekend. This is a devotion I came across.

There is still a vision . . . if it seems to tarry, wait for it. -Habakkuk 2:3 (NRSV)

I am not good at waiting. My type-A, hard-driving personality brings these words to my mind: "Push, pull, or get out of the way." It is much easier for me to plan my work and work my plan than it is to be still and know that God is God. Lent comes around each year with the important reminder that waiting can be not a waste of time but rather a redemption of time.

Jesus lived 30 years before beginning his three-year public ministry. Scholars estimate that Paul spent as many as 15 years in Arabia between his conversion and his missionary ministry. (See Galatians 1:15-18.) These examples and others help us to see that times of preparation are part of the plan, not a delay of it. Little by little, I am learning to embrace this reality, and my life is the richer for it.

God offers us these days of preparation before Easter in part to help us learn the benefits of active waiting. We do not always have to be producing. We must include periods of time simply to allow the Spirit to get us ready, trusting that God will define the action and prompt us when it is time to do something.

It's a tough road when you don't win games. And my intention, when I became a coach, especially at DNH, was to pass on everything I gained from basketball as well as other sports to the girls (to you girls). And that everything was so much more than just wins and losses. As typical, I got wrapped up in needing to see the Ws that I let slip the part about really all the wonderful gains and qualities I get to see on a daily basis. The NU game brought it to a culmination for me...and that led me to take a step back and reassess what was in front of me. That something is really just a reminder of everything about you girls. It is your athletic ability, your warm hearts, the generosity, the family that backs you and helps you, the community that does the same, it's your desire to achieve, it's your great laughts, it's YOUR faith.

So I just want to apologize for forgetting for a sec that this is a journey not just about wins and losses, but growth, perseverance, fun, setting goals and reaching them, and if you have a faith in God, it's about doing His will and

stopping in the midst of chaos and just waiting to learn what He has for you instead of what you have for yourself.

Thanks to everyone who works so hard for this team. I am blessed and I hope you feel the same way.

Ladies (and parents, and whoever else might read the blog) here are some quotes I found that I thought are suitable! I like them a lot and just wanted to share them. One thing as a team that we can not do is give up, giving up will accomplish nothing!

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place." ----Unknown

There is so much left that can still happen we just all have to believe. Believe that we can do it, and we will!

"A mind focused on doubt and fear cannot focus on the journey to victory." ---- Mike Jones

Read this quote and think about it! When I read it many things came to mind.

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."
----Unknown

"If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place."
---- Nora Roberts

Ladies we are taking our steps forward and we are getting there it's just we are missing one thing! I can't tell you what that one thing is because I am not positively sure. We just need to stick with it, and believe!!

Here is one more......

"Those who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed." ---- Lloyd Jones

I hope some of these quotes made sense to you, and that you think they fit.

I just want you all to know that I have not gave up and I never will!! I am not one who likes to give up until it is over!!
